Essential Documents and Insurance for a Smooth Journey

Essential Documents and Insurance for a Smooth Journey

Travel Documentation

  • Passport – Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel date
  • NO Visa is required for South Africa

Rifle Documentation

If you are 21 years or older, you may bring up to 4 rifles, provided they are of different calibres. You may only carry ammunition for the calibres of rifles for which you hold permits.
You will need to obtain a rifle permit, which can be applied for before or after entry into South Africa. Complete the US Customs Form 4457 and the SAP 520 Application Form. Additionally, you will need a letter from us inviting you to hunt in South Africa.
For a smoother process, we recommend using Air 2000 Hunters Support, who will assist with the permit application and guide you through the customs process at O.R. Tambo International Airport.
